| A Bit of History... Constructed in 1908, designed by Salfield & Kohlberg of San Francisco , a well known architectural firm of the period. This five-story building originally housed the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks on its top floor, which met here until 1976 and reported to be some of the finest lodge rooms in the country. Stockton 's first pharmacy, the Holden Drug Company occupied the ground floor from 1908 through 1927. In 1930 Burnham Furniture, an insurance company, an attorney, an architect and physician were tenants in the building. The building featured a huge stained glass dome skylight, which was originally intended for the San Francisco Elks Hall, destroyed by the Great 1906 Earthquake and Fire. The dome was later removed and sold and the lodge rooms suffered damage in a 1980 fire. The building lobby contains the original mosaic floor with Elks motif. This is a National Register property.
