| A Bit of History... Constructed in 1891 as the Granter's Union Hall and home of the Columbus Buggy Company. The YMCA occupied the top floor during the 1890's. The building eventually housed the H.C. Shaw company. The Sanborn Insurance Map, as of 1915 shows the building still had the turret and bay windows, which were framed in wood and not brick like the rest of the building. By the 1950's the façade of the building was altered beyond recognition from the historic photo shown below. Currently, the new owner has upgraded the inside of the building and is working on a new façade and exposing the windows that have been covered up for decades. |
Under new ownership, this three story building is primed for a new façade bringing back the original historical architecture. The windows that lie beneath the old façade covered up for decades, will be exposed once again for natural lighting. Beautiful brand new oak wood and granite flooring has been installed throughout the building and wood ceiling beams have been polished to perfection. Currently, ground floor retail includes a Sharma's Market, Rob n' D's Hair Nest, Gold USA Jewelry Store and Little Manila Foundation. Easy access to the Downtown Transit Center and within walking distance to eateries, banks, and the government corridor.
