A Bit of History... Constructed in 1916, this five-story brick building was designed by Stone and Wright and built by A.W. Crowell. The building is named after a Stockton businessman, Charles Belding, who owned and operated a soda water bottling plant on the property. Belding was the Mayor of Stockton in 1878 - 1879 and served as the Public Administrator of San Joaquin County for nine years. He was a member of the City Council, the City Assessor, a School Trustee and Trustee of the City Library. Originally the building was designed for medical and dental offices and Avenue Drug Company. The Belding Building
This historic building is currently undergoing a full renovation and will be ready mid Summer 2008. Currently, the ground floor is vacant and upper office space is starting to fill with new businesses. Opportunities are available on the most desirable and visible corners in the heart of downtown. The Belding sits on the Northeast corner of Weber Avenue and San Joaquin Street directly across from the San Joaquin County Courthouse and also across from the San Joaquin County Administration Building currently under construction. Walking distance to numerous downtown restaurants. Convenient and available parking with two adjacent City parking garages.
