Dan Cort, President & CEO A Pioneering Spirit in Stockton, California Beginning his career with the restoration of landmark Victorian homes, Dan Cort was instrumental in establishing the Magnolia National Historic District in Stockton . He developed Eden Square, an urban village complete with apartments, adult and child day care centers, Italian-style cafes, schools and shops. The Cort Companies has been a major force in reversing the trend from urban sprawl to infill of our recovering central urban areas. Mr. Cort has segued into the renovation of larger office towers, warehouse lofts and retail centers in Stockton , San Francisco, and the Monterey Peninsula. Mr. Cort holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of the Pacific. With his enthusiastic and entrepreneurial approach to real estate restoration and management, Dan Cort has become a nationally recognized lecturer on urban renewal and revitalization. As a consultant for public agencies revitalizing their downtowns, Mr. Cort offers new approaches to the renewal of cities. His commitments have extended to serving on the Boards of the Downtown Stockton Development Corporation, Downtown Alliance, Children's Museum, United Way, YMCA, Rotary, and a full member of the Urban Land Institute. In Monterey, Mr. Cort has chaired the Monterey Public Safety Appreciation Committee and has been a major sponsor for Stillwell's Snow in the Park. He sits on the Advisory Board, Center for Nonproliferation Studies at MIIS. Mr. Cort has served on and chaired Pacific Grove 's Planning Commission and served as a City Councilmember in Pacific Grove. He is currently the mayor of Pacific Grove.
Beth Cort, Vice President Beth Cort transitioned from her careers in classical ballet and nursing to the financial engine behind Cort Companies. Beth owned, operated and taught ballet while attending nursing school, where she earned her nursing degree. She brings her eye for details as an astute financial manager of the many Cort owned and managed properties, and skilled at interior and exterior design of historic buildings and preservation. She and her husband Dan Cort are true renaissance partners.
As a licensed real estate broker, Mahala Burns heads up Cort Companies leasing and sales team. She specializes in leasing for the private and government sectors, as well as full-service commercial real estate sales and investments. As a committed downtown advocate, Mahala serves as Vice Chair of the Downtown Stockton Alliance Board of Directors and serves as a member of the Downtown Central Parking District Advisory Board. Burns has been with Cort Companies since 1995 and is proud to be part of Downtown Stockton's revitalization.
Peggy Massey joined Cort Companies as a commercial real estate agent in August 2007. For the previous ten years she was the Economic Development Director for the Downtown Stockton Alliance, a property based improvement district. She also served as Director of Operations at the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce and Program Coordinator for the Leadership Stockton Program for several years. Peggy was also instrumental in bringing the prestigious All America City Award to the City of Stockton in 1999 and 2004. Massey brings her experience in downtown real estate, marketing and public relations to Cort Companies.
Ruby Dhillon has been the Office Manager for the Cort Companies since 2001. Ruby came to Stockton from the San Jose area where she worked for a Corporate Real Estate Advisory Firm, specializing in tenant representation. She handles all office management including A/R & A/P as well as troubleshooting office computers. Her expertise is in computer software and technology. She also assists in day-to-day operations of property management & maintains the database system.
With twenty-five years of property management experience, Howard Burns is responsible for keeping Cort Companies' properties maintained to the high level that our customers have come to expect. Howard also works in the design and construction of tenant improvements.
Floyd Hall brings twenty years of sales as well as the unique experience of owning and running a bed and breakfast for 6 years in Eureka, California . Floyd owned his own contracting business for ten years and came to Cort Companies in 1998 as Maintenance Supervisor managing all of Cort Company owned properties. |
